final evaluation (animal or building)

 Final Evaluation

For my final evaluation I’ve concluded that I best replicate an animal rather than a building, during my conclusion I will explain the steps and research I have done to conclude and finalize the decision between the two category’s.

For my primary research I studied the local area in which I live, though I am based in the country side I believe this gives me an advantage in my decision because the frequency of wild life surrounding my local area out numbers that  of urban areas thus ruling out urban animals such as cats and dogs (domesticated)

For my secondary research I searched  the internet to find animals best suited to my persona, to conclude I decided that the animal that best describes me was a peacock due to it flamboyancy and elegancy but temperamental and made vain by its beauty. During my secondary sourcing I studied the photos of the peacocks to see how they acted and to see if they correlated with the personality that I possess, studying in depth the colors of it feathers and imitating this into my own style on paper using a range of Medias to complete my overall goal during this project.

Peter Clarks influence over my work in my final piece wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped for due to the materials used and the lack of age and authenticity of the paper though I filled the brief of replicating my persona, this was incorporated by photo copying my original works for my sheets listed as “Sheet about me 1, 2”on close inspection of my 3d design you can see images of my person on the peacocks feather span this is the only part of my work that I feel is inspired my Peter Clark because its usage of materials that have been an influence in my life and the idea of a peacock copies the idea of basing our designs on the local surround, as Peter Clark would do himself.

For my mood board I constructed ideas in my head an though about what best describes me, it was a challenging task to begin with due to the vast amount I could have chosen from in the end I concluded to use music, social media and fashion as the best way to describe me, I assessed this with a secondary opinion “your always quoting Lana Del Rey song which is easy to relate to you” Carmen Hopson this further proves that the mood boards I have produced re relevant to me and reflect me best to those who know me well. During the production of my mood boards I though carefully about the music which was best suited to me and Lana Del Rey and Florence and the machine were the two artist who I felt best descried me I also showed influence of style on the Lana Del Rey drawing as here Bowler hat is something I fondly wear.

For my experimentation during this project I was taught how to effectively make a collage without layering or ruining the materials used and trying to preserve as much as the cut out image as possible to add effect of my final piece, some of my artist sheet that I have created show techniques that I have used eg pencil, water color and color pencil effects for my mood boards I have incorporated streaks of red this is my style of drawing and fascination of monochrome effects the red is an experiment and lifts the image into a new dimension giving  more hostile effect.

For my techniques and material use I incorporated images from magazines and papers and photo copied my drawings and experimental pieces all these materials then became the art in which I built my collage from if you look at my 3D design you can see that I have incorporated pieces of my early work to meet the brief of the given criteria showing inspiration from my surroundings and use of materials related to me. For my peacock water color I used a sponge to give a more rough effect that gives the appearance of feathers.

We were given an in-depth safety procedure as to how we should use a crafting knife, always cut away from self, never place fingers on route of the blades path ensure that the knife is never forced as it may shatter/snap, ensure solid grip of the crafting knife holding the grip areas of the crafting knife so finger don’t slip, use a cutting mat so the materials don’t slip and property damage is prevented.

My strength’s for this project where the pencil pieces and the mood boards about us I was able to create pieces that I felt comfortable with this is shown in my ability to draw people of a suitable standard and style, I was also comfortable with water colors the effect that I used was dapping the brush at a quick pace to create a feather look which was less controlled compared with my previous projects I also feel that my collage work is that of a good quality as I used stencils to create the basic shapes then I cut out more detailed pieces of the peacocks face.

If I was to redo the project again i wouldn’t change that much as I feel I have performed to a good ability range and have completed my personal goal that I set out to achieve as shown, I’d like to have had more time just to neaten up my final piece and add stronger details to the facial area and incorporate more of me into the overall design.

During this project I felt that my mood boards  about me went well because I spent time making shore I included the final details as shown with my drawing with Lana Del Rey I felt especially went well and is one of my favorite drawing among the project collection.

For my improvement I feel that I could have improved my final piece and my animal collage as they appear to be rushed and inadequate to the standards I set out to achieve though I had enough time to complete this project I feel I could have made a better attempt at this part of the project.

I felt that I managed my time wisely as I did some of my work in my own time to reduce the work amount and meant I could concentrate a lot harder than I would surrounded by people and background noise, I completed my project with plenty of time to spare and felt that I managed my time very well.
