William Morris

William Morris is most Iconic for his Leading role in the arts and crafts movement, Morris,s broad spectrum of art and design covered vast amounts of styles ranging from contempary to classical. Into all aspects of media such as glass work, fabrics, architecture, wallpaper design, ceramics, painting, interior design and furniture, this variety of medias made William Morris a strong influence in the decision to study his work against Charles Rennie Mackintosh who also shows variety in his work but his media and work isn't suitable to the style I choose.

The study of nature
William Morris's style and approach towards his main theme of work was to create a new form of art taking inspiration from his natural surrounding, by using nature as his main theme for his work he created many floral and leafy pieces that gave his name a distinct feature that many come to know.

my reasons for choosing William Morris are because his choice of medias such as painting and pencil works is heavily related to the forms of media that I do in the aspects that I chose nature as the main theme of most of my work. in addition to this he was easily relatable to my corresponding artist Grayson Perry.
